Incorrect setting of drill angles, borehole wander and drilling to incorrect depths, results in service problems particularly in the mining, quarrying and construction industries. MDL has designed the Boretrak® non-magnetic borehole deviation system as a means of auditing the results of drilling activity, quickly and accurately.
The Rodded Boretrak® is a unique, cost effective, portable non-magnetic, non-gyro borehole deviation surveying system. As the system is not affected by magnetic influences, flooded holes or casing, the Rodded Boretrak® can be used during or immediately after drilling to assess deviation.
The system features lightweight alignment rods which are continuously connected by a single axis hinge system used to lower the measurement head down a borehole. The probe head contains two inclinometer sensors from which the data is recorded at a fixed time interval. A surface logger is used to also record time, the hole details and depth. The recorded data from the probe and the logger is combined in the PC for further post-processing.
MDL's Boretrak® 3D software allows the user to process data and produce printed and/or plotted results, typically, within 30 minutes of observation. Data can also be easily integrated into a wide range of software packages including MDL's comprehensive rock profiling package, Face 3D where it can also be merged with a face scan for a comprehensive and accurate burden analysis of the complete blast. Holes can be displayed individually or in any combination to determine hole separations.
Downhole and uphole surveys can be completed with this system and the unique design allows for use in areas of magnetic influence.
